HOME AUTOMATION IS TOO COMPLICATED FOR ME

“Why would I want to control the lights from my phone if I have switches? And automatic blinds? I have hands for that. Besides, we already know that the more technology, the more problems… And I’m sure that with AI, one day the house will decide it prefers to live in the dark and won’t let me turn anything on.”
I’ve heard hundreds of arguments against home automation. Almost always from those who haggle over the price of an installation…
But it still never ceases to amaze me that there are installers who try to reason with their clients that the traditional system is the best option.
I’d almost buy that for apartments or for small home renovations. Almost.

But now go to a big, luxurious house (the one in the photo, believe it or not, is. I swear!). Hundreds of lights, blinds, shutters, climate control, access points…

And the electrician arrives and convinces the builder that home automation is a passing fad and that he, a professional with more than 30 years of experience, will put all his intelligence and know-how into designing a comfortable and intuitive system for the future homeowner. He’s done it thousands of times.
And what you see in the picture turns out:
As soon as I walked into the house, I was amazed… I took the photo and left.

Obviously, in this house, they didn’t hire me to manage the installations.

My only option: either we automate the house or I don’t work on that project.
I don’t understand how what you see in the photo can be done in the 21st century and in a new 350m² home with sea views on the Levantine coast.
There’s no savings here, no design, no foresight: what there is is a lack of knowledge and an unwillingness to retrain. I guess this electrician is going to retire soon…
What do you think?
